IT'S ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE

Everyone, at some point in their journey through life, encounters situations, moments, and losses that change something inside them.

Not immediately, perhaps.

But at some point, you realize that you are looking at the very same things… in a different way.

My father has always been a man with a great sense of humor.

The kind of person who could never sit still, always out of the house, always on the move. Walking, going for a stroll, seeing friends — that was his way of living.

Today, he is confined to a bed.

And yet, he has never lost that lightness.

At first, it seemed like a simple backache.

Then came the word that changes everything:

Cancer.

When I decided to leave home, he was doing well.

And it’s not easy being one of the last people to find out about something like that.

It leaves you with a strange feeling, as if you had somehow lost a piece of time without even realizing it.

From that moment on, something changed.

It didn’t happen on one specific day, or because of one particular sentence.

It happened slowly, just by watching.

Watching my mother stay by his side.

Watching him continue to smile, even when the world seemed to be collapsing around him.

And that’s when you begin to understand.

You realize how many times you say:

“I’ll do it tomorrow.”

You realize how many things you take for granted.

Some people think I travel so much because I’m afraid.

The truth is, I travel for the exact opposite reason.

Because some things teach you that time waits for no one.

And so you stop putting things off.

A trip.

A phone call.

A hug.

A decision.

Because one day, you realize that it’s not money or opportunities that you are missing.

What never comes back is time.
